Hi! My name is Kira Jones and I am a current senior from Canton, MI pursuing a degree in Environmental Policy. My personal and professional aspirations stem from my beliefs in environmental justice and social justice. To achieve these goals, post-graduation, I plan to attend law school and pursue a career in environmental law. During my time at Ohio State, I have become involved with several organizations to obtain experiences that align with these goals and to support and uplift Ohio State’s student body while giving back to our local community. Some of my involvements include the Undergraduate Student Government, the Rea Environment and Society Lab, the 116th Class of the SPHINX Senior Honorary, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Theta Chapter.
When I reflect on my time at Ohio State thus far, it is clear that one of the most impactful organizations I have been involved with is the Morrill Scholars Program (MSP). MSP is Ohio State’s premier diversity and merit scholarship program. Through the provision of scholarships and educational enrichment opportunities, this organization supports students who are actively engaged in diversity-based leadership, social justice initiatives, and service, as well as facilitates the promotion of inclusivity on campus through student-led events and initiatives.
I have received immense support in achieving my goals, and in large part, this is due to the incredible connections and financial support that has been provided to me through the Morrill Scholars Program (MSP). Being a part of the MSP community has truly been a transformative aspect of my college experience, and my hope is to give back to the organization that has provided me with so much.
It is an absolute honor to serve as a member of The Ohio State University 2022 Homecoming Court! I hope that you will help me in fulfilling my goal of supporting the Morrill Scholars Program.
