BuckeyeThon is a community of Ohio State students dedicated to ending pediatric cancer and blood disorders. We are the largest student-run philanthropy in the state of Ohio! Specifically, we raise funds for the Hematology, Oncology, and Blood and Bone Marrow Transplant Unit of Columbus’s Children’s Miracle Network Hospital: Nationwide Children’s Hospital. These critical funds support clinical trials, genomics research and psychosocial services for patients and families.
BuckeyeThon holds a very special place in my heart. Hearing the moving stories of families affected by pediatric cancer has influenced me to pursue a career as a pediatric oncologist. I was motivated to join ongoing cancer research, where I found a passion for academic medicine. Learning about the value of philanthropy in my community drove me to start my own philanthropic nonprofit company, Philocracy. Serving on BuckeyeThon’s leadership team has helped me see myself as a leader, and has given me the confidence to pursue the problems I am passionate about solving, even after graduating.
Truly, this organization has changed my life. I am so proud to support BuckeyeThon for my Homecoming Court fundraising campaign.
