Opioid addiction is killing our neighbors, our friends, our loved ones.
The opioid epidemic is ravaging our country. It kills someone in America every 16 minutes. We see their obituaries daily: the smiling, once-healthy faces of children, mothers, fathers and spouses who could not escape the grip of opioid addiction. They leave behind babies who will never know them and parents who will never understand what went wrong. In some communities, overdose deaths are so frequent that morgues run out of room. Ohio is ground zero for this crisis. And Ohio can turn it around.
The Opioid Innovation Fund recognizes that we must fight this battle together. Grants are awarded to teams led by Ohio State faculty and staff, but their projects must incorporate community engagement and demonstrate effective and sustainable partnerships. We’re tackling this crisis from multiple angles and encouraging broad, innovative thinking.
