Ohio State University Club Gymnastics

Our Team:

The Ohio State University Gymnastics Club is a student run organization devoted to providing an opportunity for students to learn and train gymnastics. We are a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Gymnastics Clubs, the NAIGC. This year we have over 60 members with more than half joining the club for the first time.

What makes our club special is our eclectic group of members. We have athletes that have devotedly trained countless hours in the gym since they could barely walk. But perhaps more uniquely, we have members that would watch the Olympics and dream of flipping, but never have the opportunity or means to try it, until our club became an option. Many might say that you can't start gymnastics as an adult, but our club strives to follow the motto of the NAIGC: For the Love of the Sport. We each strive to be the best athletes we can be regardless of background. This requires that our more experienced gymnasts help coach the beginners, which fosters a positive environment of collaboration and growth.

Our club has achieved many competition successes in the past year. With the women winning both competitions this year and the men placing first and second. At Nationals in Fort Worth last year, our women’s team placed 6th overall. Hannah Bush also placed 13th on Uneven Bars and Tori Wolfe placed 12th on Balance Beam. On the men’s side, Ethan Meister placed 2nd on the Floor and 1st on High Bar, David Thomas placed 7th on Pommel Horse, Sean Chilelli placed 4th on Still Rings and 2nd on Parallel Bars, and Brighton Kahrs placed 9th on High Bar. Both teams have gotten promising new additions that should help team succeed even more at this year’s nationals.

Our club is in the position to be the best it has ever been, but we need your help! Our goal is for every member to participate fully regardless of their financial situation.

Our Challenges and Solutions:

Our club as a number of financial challenges that place a burden on our members. First, unlike clubs many clubs that practice on campus, we have to practice at an outside facility which charges rent and requires us to carpool and pay for gas. Furthermore, we travel to numerous competitions throughout the nation requiring travel, lodging and meet fees. Most notably, nationals this year will be held in Daytona Beach, Florida and will cost an estimated $15,000 to $20,000. In the past, the majority of this cost was typically passed along to the members. However, this year, we aim to reduced the financial burden on our members by holistic fundraising campaigns. In addition to monthly fundraisers the team has been hosting (we have already raised 300% of last years fundraising), we are asking for your help in traveling to nationals. Please help us reach our goal by donating what you are able. All of your support is greatly appreciated--whether it be donating financially or spreading the word about our team to your friends and family. With your assistance, we hope to raise at least $5,000 and bring every player to every competition!

Anything helps!

Last year, a student who attended every competition would have had to pay over $800. Not only is this unacceptable, it is unrealistic in many situations. With our new fundraising efforts and your help, we hope to cut this number in half. Please consider a tax-deductible gift and join our team in support of our dreams to train gymnastics for the years to come!

The first $2500 we raise will go toward a scholarship to fully pay the nationals costs for financially struggling members. Any additional money raised will be used to offset the costs for the remainder of our team.

All of us from The Ohio State University Gymnastics Club truly appreciate your generosity and support for our team! Thank you!
