Hi HESA Friends, 

On behalf of all HESA students at Ohio State, from the bottom of our hearts, we would like to thank you for your gift to the HESPA Leadership Fundraising Campaign. Because of your support not only did we meet our goal of $2,500 dollars, we exceeded it by a long shot totaling $3,000 dollars raised!! This is so incredible and we cannot thank you enough. Your donations go directly back to the graduate and professional students in the HESA program towards Ecuador Application Fee Waivers, supplemental professional development funds, and towards the continuation of HESPA as an organization. These funds allow HESA students to go out into the world and share the message of Ohio State, while bringing back cutting edge and relevant knowledge to our campus in order to ensure that our graduates are leading the field of Higher Education and Student Affairs. Your support allows them to do just that.

So, thank you!!

Wow! This week has been an amazing week! Thank you to everyone who has donated in the past few days! Over the span of the past few days we have raised over $500 dollars! This has officially put under the $1,000 dollar mark of funds left to raise to close the campaign. 

We have particularly appreciated the support of our Alumni of HESA and HESPA. Your support means the world to students and we couldn't be here without you!

Hello HESA Friends,

It’s the end of our second week and we have climbed over $1,000 dollars towards our goals of $2,500! We are halfway through the month of February and we couldn’t be more excited about this! We have already secured more than enough gifts to ensure that 4 students will be able to apply to Ecuador free from application fees!!

The picture below is our 1st-year MA students in Dr. Susan Jones' Psychosocial Student Development Theory class. In the upcoming weeks these students, and many of our HESA students, will be presenting and attending annual conferences for organizations like the Association for the Study of Higher Education (ASHE), The Placement Exchange (TPE), the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA), and the Association of College Personnel Association (ACPA). These opportunities are vital to their professional development. For many of them this will be their first time engaging in these experiences. Your support allows them to bring the best practices back to campus as they continue to advise and mentor the next generation of college students.

We hope to secure $1,750 by the end of the week and we are asking for your continued dedication to HESA students! You can do this by sharing our page to your social media and with your networks in support of our cause. Simply copy and paste the page link from your browser into a post.

A huge thank you to all of our donors who have supported the HESPA Leadership Fundraising Campaign. Your support to the HESA students is invaluable and does not go unnoticed. As our first week of the campaign comes to a close, we have reached 26% percent of our $2,500 goal. This is incredible and also represents ten percent more funds raised compared to last year. HESPA is super excited about this engagement.

One of the people who donated this week was alumna, Sara Laughlin ’18. In a note to me she reflected “my journey through the HESA program would not have been possible without the gracious supporters at Ohio State.” She also said, “Without the stress of debt, I was able to fully focus on my interests in improving college access and equity for all students.” This could not have been achieved without your support. Sara’s post-graduate role is at the Nationwide Children’s Hospital as an Assistant Director of Development. We thank all the donors and Sara for their support this year.

Did you know, according to research, students are more likely to reach degree completion and persist through college when they are active in the academic and social life of the institution? As Student Affairs professionals, we strive to advise and mentor all students through the college experience while facilitating an environment where they realize their potential as leaders in the community and identify their individual passions and interests. Our HESA & SPA graduate students work diligently every day to ensure students feel a sense of connection to the Buckeye community and their peers on our campus and this campaign directly assists in their work.
