Your donations annually allow us to offer programming to over 700 youth. In the last 30 days alone, we've hosted three sports clinics that have served 319 youth.
First, our youth got to spend a Saturday with the OSU Men's Soccer team. The following weekend, they worked out with the OSU Strength and Conditioning coaches. Our clinic season then wrapped up at the OSU LiFEsports Spring Game, clinic and family tailgate. Check out a few pictures from our events!
While we've had an amazing last 30 days, the fun is just beginning. This Saturday we will register over 550 youth for our annual LiFEsports Summer Camp. All of this is made possible thanks to donations like yours.
We are almost to 50% of our annual campaign goal; please continue to share our campaign to your social networks and help us get to 100% by April 30th!
While LiFEsports programming is directed toward Central Ohio youth, often we find that some of our biggest impact is on our staff! Each summer we employ over 60 camp staff members, most of whom are OSU students and student-athletes just beginning to explore careers working with youth…ones in education, social work, public health, medicine, and youth development. Check out what Coach Mike has to say about how LiFEsports impacted his life and career!
"I started working at LiFEsports summer camp 10 years ago as the softball coach. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to grow into different roles. Some include volunteering at clinics, spending time with the Youth Leadership Academy (YLA), being a mentor for young men in YLA, and working as a behavior support staff member at camp. I’ve enjoyed watching former campers grow up over the years, especially when they join the YLA. Then I can see them mature into leaders. My experience with LiFEsports helped me successfully earn my Bachelor’s degree in Physical and Health Education and connected me with other young professionals who are passionate about helping underserved populations. After graduation, I was able to transfer the skills I learned through LiFEsports to my job as a Site Supervisor with After School All Stars, where I implemented programing for low-income students in Columbus. Now, I am the Physical Education teacher at Hawthorne Elementary in Westerville City Schools. I’m thankful for the skills, opportunities, and people LiFEsports has brought into my life over the last 10 years. I’m a more effective teacher because of my understanding of the power of teaching life skills through sport!" - Mike Henderson
