Dear BBC Mafia,
We were out in San Francisco for five gorgeous days, and we made the most out of every moment. From our (virtual) meeting with Brad Smith (former CEO and current Chairman of the Board at Intuit) at the roundtable of the Knights of Camelot (seriously!) to sitting in on business meetings with Fast.Co, our trip was jam-packed with awesome. In between company visits at Adobe, Apple, Google, Zippin, Intuit, and Fast.Co we managed to visit a number of attractions including the Golden Gate Bridge, Sausalito, Haight-Ashbury, The Castro, and plenty of parks with jaw-dropping views. After getting back to Columbus late last night, we all couldn't stop thinking about the memories and friendships we'd just made. This was all possible because of your generosity. We couldn't possibly say thank you enough. The best we can do is give you some awesome recommendations for places to visit if you're ever out in the Bay Area!
Thank You,
Christian
Hey BBC Mafia!
We just wanted to give you a quick update and a highlight of some of the members we have going on the trip. We will be out in San Francisco from March 7th to the 11th busy visiting startups and established giants in the bay area. But not too busy to try to meet with as many of you as possible! We are hosting a networking night at Vouch Insurance HQ to meet with as many of you out on the west coast as possible! RSVP here if you will be available from 6-8pm on Sunday March 8th. You can bring a friend who would also be interested in speaking with students. Drinks and food will be provided!
Here is a highlight of some of the members that will be there!
Jen Schlegel
Jen is working incredibly hard to further develop solutions to problems in the mobility and accessibility space. She has founded and is currently working on multiple companies. Her endeavors have been supported by OSU and she is the recipient of the university's highest award, the president's prize. Read more about her and the president's prize here!
Alex Davessar
Alex is "building recruiting software, Outern, with 6 other students." His experience with startups has "solidified [his] interest in startups" and he knows that he "want[s] to work in the startup world. [He is] hoping that Business Builders’ journey to San Francisco will open [his] mind to new opportunities in the startup world as well as serve as an experience that will help [him] grow as an individual."
You can check out Outern here!
Luke Peddemors
Luke wants "to understand where marketing fits into the equation in such a tech heavy area of the world. [His] background is in product marketing, and [he'd] like insight into how that role stays prevalent across San Francisco." On top of this, he has been heavily involved on campus with Nike's Project Move which uses consumer strategy to build a week long celebration of the diversity of movement at Ohio State. He also currently works in the startup community with Nafis Azad at Waker which helps companies build and launch products. In the past he has worked at Numerator as a Product Marketer. Luke has also launched Startup Studio for us which has been given our members the opportunity to get hands on experience with experts in many different fields.
Stay tuned to see some more member features!
Thanks,
Christian
Seriously, we can not say thank you enough. I wasn't sure what I expected when we launched this but the number of contributions we've had and the level of all the contributions has completely blown me away. This will likely be the last post we make on here until the trip. For all those who have donated, you will get updates on this platform when spring break rolls around.
I would like to share with you some photos of our members as a way to say thanks and to show how the culture that you've built and continue to help us build is inspiring and connecting students at OSU.
Hi everyone,
Thank you all again so much for your contributions! Your generosity is felt by each and every one of our members who wish to go to San Francisco this spring and helps them get closer to achieving their dreams of being successful entrepreneurs. We only have fifteen more days to reach our goal of $10,000 so if you could share this page with others who might be interested in contributing we would greatly appreciate it. Today's update is a video from leadership team members Kristen Cerne and Kristiana Gresham with some more info on the trip.
Thank you to everyone who has already donated! Your donations mean a lot. Check out the donation page and see all the awesome people who have already donated. It's incredible to see just within the first week how excited everyone is about it. Your donations will allow our most involved members to go to San Francisco and not have to worry about the cost of their flight or how they're going to get around once they're there. This also exists as an incentive for members to get as involved with the community as possible because those who volunteer and participate the most will get the first spots on the trip.
If you have any questions, please contact Christian Barrett.
This was the year that started it all. Thousands have been through the organization since and we owe it to our founders and past leaders.
If everyone in the #BBCMafia donates at this level, the trip will be fully funded. Spread the word!
One round trip ticket for a current Business Builder. Connect midwest builders with west coast alumni. We're flying Southwest: a startup founded in 1967 and an iconic airline today.
At this level you will have paid for the entire trip of a very lucky member! This includes airfare, transportation, and connections of a lifetime.
