For the past 12 years, LiFEsports has been using sport to empower over 6,000 young people in our community. The LiFEsports Initiative recognizes that youth sports are about much more than playing ball – it’s about giving young people skills they can use both on and off the field. That’s why LiFEsports uses athletics to teach youth valuable life skills.
Each summer, the LiFEsports Initiative provides a free, four-week summer camp to over 600 young people. This year, due to COVID, our program must pivot to provide a remote summer camp experience.
We are creating a virtual home-based program utilizing ‘Sport in a Bag’ and are hoping to serve 1,000 kids. Over a 6-week period, each child will receive a bag every two weeks with different sports equipment designed to keep them active and engaged.
In addition to sports and fitness equipment, LiFEsports will provide access to virtual pre-recorded sport and fitness activities and live Chalk Talk lessons that will focus on four critical social skills that will help youth grow and mature: Self-control, Effort, Teamwork and Social Responsibility, or S.E.T.S. It is clear that LiFEsports programming is even more crucial today given these increasingly stressful circumstances and challenges.
Your support is critical to ensuring that this Buckeye tradition continues. Your gift today will help LiFEsports continue to impact our community one child at a time.
