Although our giving page is no longer active, you can still donate. If you would like to provide any additional support to our project, please do so here.
The Ohio State Crew team is a student-run organization, not sponsored by university athletics. We proudly pay for our own equipment, coaching, travel and lodging – a budget that annually exceeds $130,000. Itʼs no small task, but then again, we aren’t your average Buckeyes. Please help us maintain our unique tradition with a donation today!
Our goal of $8,000 will be used to help fund our trip to the American Collegiate Rowing Association (ACRA) national championship regatta. In the last few years we have found improvement in our final placement there, and we hope to continue that success this year. The regatta takes place on May 22-24th in Gainesville, GA on the 1996 Olympic rowing course. The team will be racing against 60+ other universities with the desire of being the first boat across the finish line.
The student athletes on this team work hard for the opportunity to participate in this sport. Members must individually contribute or fundraise $2500 in membership dues per year in order to participate. In addition to keeping up with their studies, athletes have mandatory practice 6 days a week, and most hold jobs or participate in other extracurricular activities. Most weekends that we are not racing, we are busy keeping up our Rent-A-Rower program, where we do yard work for Columbus neighbors as a fundraiser for our team.
A trip to ACRA for 50 student athletes plus coaching staff will have the following expenses:
2 nights in Hotel: $3000
Rental of Passenger Vans: $5000
Gas for Vans and Trailer: $1000
Regatta Entry/Affiliate Fees: $1500
TOTAL: $10,500
Your contribution to Ohio State Crew will support the team in their quest for a national championship and help alleviate the financial pressure on the student-athletes.
Let's Row to ACRA! GO BUCKS!
A coxswain may ask their rowers to give 10 strokes as hard as they can in order to gain distance on another competing boat. Will you give a Power 10 for our team?
Founded in 1978, the team has been training young men and women for 42 years. Please help continue the team's tradition of success with a donation today!
During a 2k sprint race, the boat will be rowing at a minimum of 32 strokes per minute. Will you give 32 for the Crew?
The team currently has a 50 member roster. A contribution of just a dollar for each member can go a long way.
The team rents passenger vans in order to get all the athletes to Georgia. This level covers the rental cost for one van for a day.
In the last 250m of a 2000m race, the crew kicks it into high gear to finish through the line. Help us finish the campaign the same way!
From the first day of class, athletes have 277 days to get stronger, faster and more skilled than their competition in preparation for the ACRA National Championship. This level gives a dollar a day for the scarlet and grey!
The team will be traveling 529 miles (each way!) on their trip to the national championship regatta. This level is a contribution of a dollar for each mile on the road trip to ACRA.
2000 meters of water lie between the starting blocks and the finish line of a race. Please consider donating a dollar for every meter that the Buckeyes will be racing.
