Although COVID-19 remains a major health risk to our community, the mission of Steps for Sarcoma remains the same: to bring patient, family and community sarcoma awareness and education by raising orthopaedic sarcoma pilot research funds to promote improved patient outcomes and quality of life. Even though we are unable to be together in person this year, you can help us build on the success of last year’s 10th Anniversary event by showing your support today!
Why Your Support Matters
Because sarcoma is a rare disease, federal funding for sarcoma research is very difficult to obtain. One of the main reasons we began Steps for Sarcoma is to provide small grants of $15,000 to $30,000 to help young researchers produce preliminary or pilot data that support their research ideas and strengthen their chances of obtaining larger grants from the National Cancer Institute and other external sources.
We have used money raised by Steps for Sarcoma to help young researchers at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC – James), the Ohio State College of Veterinary Medicine and Nationwide Children's Hospital Research Institute produce pilot data studies and, in addition, we have funded multiple undergraduate and graduate summer research stipends at $5,000 per student for each summer. These grants help get students interested in sarcoma-research careers and assist Ohio State faculty researchers with ongoing projects.
Your support for Steps for Sarcoma has helped us develop our nationally recognized sarcoma research program to levels not previously possible. Thank you for your generous past support, and please join us again this year so we can provide even more funding for studies that will help us someday end the challenges faced by those who are affected by sarcoma.
Because of you, this event continues to grow every year in supporters and fundraising for sarcoma research. In 2018, we celebrated our amazing fundraising reaching $1 MILLION for the Steps for Sarcoma Research Fund at the OSUCCC – James. We are proud to say that 100% of your donation goes to fund only sarcoma research.
Our goals do not stop with this great milestone - we need to look forward and continue our important research being done to one day find a cure for sarcoma. Together we are making a difference and we could not do this without you!

A $25 gift in honor of the number of research grants awarded using funds raised by Steps for Sarcoma.
A $50 gift to represent the number of silent auction packages supporters purchased at the 2019 Steps for Sarcoma event. Over the years our silent auction has contributed to us being able to raise more than $1 million for sarcoma research.
A $75 gift helps us raise awareness and support cutting edge sarcoma research.
A $100 gift in honor of the more than 100 sarcoma survivors who attended the 2019 event. Survivors are our inspiration for the event and their support teams of friends and family help us continue to grow each year to have one of the largest sarcoma walks in the country.
A $500 gift to represent more than 500 raffle tickets sold at least year's Steps for Sarcoma walk. Proceeds from the raffle increase our total revenue each year to provide more funding for research.
