Sudden medical challenges. Loss of on-campus jobs. Extra credit hours needed to complete a degree. A global pandemic.

Unexpected need and financial emergency have the potential to interrupt life for more than 20,000 undergraduate and graduate students in the College of Arts and Sciences. The Students First, Students Now fund provides scholarships and emergency assistance to Buckeyes in the College of Arts and Sciences who need immediate financial help. Through a simple application process, students can request support for housing, utilities, food, course materials, technology, health care, childcare and more. While unexpected challenges can affect students at any time, the need for assistance is elevated during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Keith Monda (BS, economics, 1968; MA, economics, 1971) has supported the Students First, Students Now fund since it was established in 2010. "We all like to have well laid out plans and create an environment where we can be successful. Sometimes things don't go the way we planned and emergencies arise,” Keith says. “This program addresses those issues. Students who through no fault of their own are in a situation where if something isn't done, they won't be able to continue to matriculate, and that's a problem. I really like this program because of its pinpointed accuracy in addressing these kinds of issues.”

Monda has generously offered to match all gifts up to $25,000 to support this critical need. We are grateful for Keith's ongoing support for The Ohio State University and students enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences. Donate today and double your impact.
