Homecoming Court 2020: Abigail Hinson

$420 raised from 7 gifts

Join me in supporting the Ohio Suicide Prevention Foundation at Ohio State.

Although my giving page is no longer active, you can still donate. If you would like to provide any additional support, please do so here.

My name is Abby Hinson, and I am a senior majoring in Accounting at The Ohio State University originally from Pittsburgh, PA. On campus, I am involved with the Buckeye Undergraduate Consulting Club, Honors Cohort, Alpha Kappa Psi Professional Business Fraternity and Fisher Ambassadors.

Mental health has always been extremely important to me, but it did not become a passion of mine until high school, when my school experienced three suicides in one year. The next year, I helped start a club called Peer-2-Peer Empowerment, with a mission to spread positivity amongst the students, staff and faculty as well as raise awareness for mental health. Our year ended with a Color Run where we donated all proceeds to a suicide prevention foundation.

I have taken this passion with me to Ohio State and tried to find as many opportunities on campus to continue spreading awareness about mental health and suicide prevention. One way I have been able to do this is through the Honors Cohort program. I, along with eight other students, produced a 30-minute documentary about metal health on Ohio State’s campus, highlighting both the struggles college kids face as well as the resources available on campus. I could not think of a more fitting organization to raise funds for than the Ohio Suicide Prevention Foundation at The Ohio State University. This organization aligns with everything I am passionate about, and I’d love if you’d consider donating to this incredible cause!
