This page was created to honor those who have lost their battle to cancer and raise money for cancer research at The OSUCCC-James.
In September 2016, retired Upper Arlington Police Detective James Hamilton passed away after fighting pancreatic cancer. In November of 2016, Officers from the Upper Arlington Division of Police honored Detective Hamilton by raising money for cancer research. This was the first annual Movmember fundraiser which has since grown into FOP Lodge 9 wide.
We have honored Sam Mierzejewski who was able to beat brain cancer, a child from the community and Erik Gilleland who lost his battle to gall bladder cancer.
As we move forward this year we are wanting to strengthen law enforcement's bond with the community and honor those who are currently fighting cancer.
Male officers are dropping their razors and growing facial hair, while female officers are able to paint their nails a color of their choice for the months of November and December.
