Dr. Tina Pierce Scholarship Fund

Although our giving page is no longer active, you can still donate. If you would like to provide any additional support to our project, please do so here.

The Dr. Tina Pierce Social Justice Scholarship Fund, in its inaugural year, will provide scholarships to Columbus City School graduates who have demonstrated a commitment to community engagement, social justice or political activism. Applicants must be majoring in Political Science, African American and African Studies, Sociology, Public Affairs, Women’s Gender and Sexuality Studies, Criminology, Criminal Justice or other social justice oriented majors.

A graduate of Columbus City Schools, an Ohio State Alumna and current Columbus City School Board & Ohio School Board Association member, Dr. Tina Pierce, has dedicated herself to teaching, mentoring and developing youth and facilitating civic engagement throughout her Columbus community. She passionately invests in the development of young people, empowering them to find and use their voices to influence change. She has generously contributed her entire Columbus City School Board stipend to launch this scholarship.

Many young activists are motivated to organize and influence change within their schools and communities, but lack the resources, tools and guidance necessary to bridge the gap between ideas and action. The intent of this scholarship is not only to provide financial assistance to worthy candidates, but also to pair that with mentorship and community engagement training.

Students selected for this scholarship will be expected to volunteer, connect and engage with current Columbus City School students throughout the school year. Scholarship recipients may then apply for renewal if they have met the service component requirement. This scholarship purposefully aspires to create a long-term, sustainable connection between current & past Columbus City School youth leaders.

Your financial support will amplify the magnitude of this scholarship, creating a ripple effect within our community. When we invest in the education, development and training of our future leaders, we benefit as a community--locally, nationally and globally.
