Thanks for visiting!
Although our giving page is no longer active, you can still donate. If you would like to provide any additional support, please do so here.
Alumni & Friends,
WOW! I am thrilled to see the momentum early in the campaign! We’ve already raised $1,630!
I am excited to announce this year’s first match challenge!
Marathon Petroleum, which has hosted our students in their federal relations office in Washington for years, will match the next $2,500 we raise! That means once we hit $4,130, Marathon will donate an additional $2,500!
Will you help us get to this important milestone?
Once again, I thank you for your support of this campaign. It’s in its 7th year and has made a huge difference in the lives of 56 students- let’s get more John Glenn Fellows to Washington this year without the burden of housing.
If you have already made a gift to this year’s campaign, thank you. We appreciate your support so much!
Warmly,
Katy
Alumni & Friends:
It is with so much enthusiasm that I write to share the best news: WAIP reopened its doors in fall 2021 and welcomed students back to DC for in-person programming! We were able to provide scholarships to offset the cost of housing thanks to your support.
This campaign has been wildly successful and we are thrilled to launch our 7th annual WAIP crowdfunding campaign! To review the huge impact of this campaign and your generosity, in the last 6 years we have:
You made this happen. After a year of virtual WAIP, students were able to return to Washington for an in-person experience with your support. You can hear more about the impact your gift made in this thank you video from recipients of the scholarship during fall 2021, the first in-person WAIP cohort since March 2020.
As we work to bring the program back to pre-pandemic capacity, with nearly 30 students participating this summer, the need for scholarships is greater than ever. The students participating in WAIP this year have largely experienced college in a virtual and hybridized format; let's get them to DC for a truly immersive, life-changing experience.
Please help us kick-off our 7th Annual WAIP Crowdfunding Campaign!
I wanted to share a change in how the alumni association is recognizing alumni donors. They have recently expanded alumni membership to include gifts of all sizes, with an emphasis on "life donor," which is an annual cumulative contribution of $150. I encourage you to take a moment to learn more about our membership levels here. Over the past 6 years, many of you have given at the $75 level, which has had a great impact on the scholarships we provide for our students. We hope you will consider still giving $75, it makes a huge difference!
I look forward to updating you, and as always, am moved beyond words by this community, who year after year, shows up for this program to honor Senator Glenn's legacy.
Warmly,
Katy
Alumni & Friends:
Wow! Not only did we meet our goal- we exceeded it by nearly $500!
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! For the 6th year in a row, you all came together to ensure that Ohio State students hoping to launch their careers in DC have the opportunity to do so. While much uncertainty lies ahead, we feel humbled to know that we can provide students the opportunity with the support of a scholarship. Your gift will allow us to make unpaid internships possible this summer, and when the program returns in-person (fingers crossed for this fall), we'll be able to award housing scholarships again. These scholarships are often a game changer for students, especially given the high cost of housing in DC or the difficulty an unpaid internship presents (an unfortunate reality we hope to change someday, but a long road remains in front of us).
We are eager to update you about the recipients. Until then, please know how grateful we are to you for supporting WAIP. Thanks for making our 6th annual campaign a success. Thanks to you, Senator Glenn's important legacy continues.
Warmly,
Katy, Sydney and the WAIP Team
