Our program was founded about 10 years ago and is slowly becoming one of the best programs in College Fishing, as well as the state of Ohio. Our success is due mostly to the wide support of friends, family, alumni and other Buckeye fishing supporters whom help raise the necessary budget to send our anglers all over the country in the three college fishing series (Bassmasters, MLF/FLW and Collegiate Bass Championship) to represent THE Ohio State University on national media such as ESPN, NBC Sports and CBS Sports. The money raised from this campaign will go directly to paying for:
The Ohio State University fishing team is a student club on campus. The club is designed to connect students who share a similar passion for the sport of fishing and allows anglers to enjoy recreational fishing around campus and Ohio as well as compete on the national level against schools from all across the country. The club does not receive ANY funding from The Ohio State University. Our team is 100% funded by our anglers themselves and the support and donations of our family, friends and the great Buckeye faithful.
While our team is considered a club here on campus we still face many schools whose teams are sanctioned, fully-funded varsity sports. Tournaments consist of each school sending as many teams of two anglers (a boater and his/her partner the co-angler) who go out and try to catch a five fish limit of the heaviest black bass they can. The top 10% of the field from each tournament qualifies for nationals.
Our teams look to represent Buckeye Nation on the largest of stages for collegiate fishing and appreciate your support and help so much. With the constantly changing opportunities due to COVID-19, any funds raised that are not able to be used in the current budget year will carry over to the next budget year. Any amount is appreciated and will not go to waste!
