Laurie's husband and my father, Jon, was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer in September 2022. He bravely fought while in the care of OSUCCC – James, alongside many of the same doctors and nurses that my mom got to know during her time there. My dad and I found comfort in their familiar faces as well as sharing stories of our memories of her with them. This brought my dad and myself additional closure from that time of our lives.

Jon’s disease was very aggressive and although his will was to keep fighting, his body could not anymore. Before he was able to receive any treatment, he passed away November 7th 2022. Exactly 1 year and 7 months later and in the same room as his beloved wife.

While losing both of my parents to the same disease within 2 years has been traumatic and incredibly difficult, I am very grateful that we live near such an amazing hospital.
My hope is that the donations given in my parents’ honor will fund research that will one day allow patients to have more treatment options and ultimately more time with their loved ones.
