Thank you for visiting my Buckeye Funder page! My name is Preetham Kastury, and I am a fourth-year student studying Biomedical Science with aspirations to one day attend medical school. Ohio State has provided many opportunities for me to contribute to the Buckeye community. A few of my most meaningful involvements include conducting cancer research at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute, serving as Vice President of External Affairs for Universal Health Aid, voting as a University Senator, and investigating public health stories as a producer for the Lantern.
I initially became invested in cancer research after my grandmother was misdiagnosed with a brain tumor a few years ago. Although she was eventually found to be healthy, the mere possibility of her having cancer devastated my family. This harrowing experience gave me a glimpse into the pain that families endure following a true cancer diagnosis. I joined a brain tumor research lab to help develop tools for families to better understand and treat cancer. After being the recipient of a Pelotonia Undergraduate Research Fellowship and participating in the virtual Pelotonia bike ride last year, I have seen the vast community in Columbus committed to eradicating cancer. I have decided to use my platform to help in this fight; please join me in this cause and together, we can create a cancer-free world.
