My name is Katie McGreal, and I am a fourth-year student majoring in Biology with minors in Bioethics and Global Public Health. I am from University Heights, OH and I am so excited to be fundraising and be a member of the Court this year! I love being a Buckeye and getting to be a part of so many amazing communities at Ohio State. I am in the Biological Sciences Scholars Program where I have served as a peer mentor and tutor for underclassmen. Additionally, I serve as the Team Coordinator for Partners and Health Engage, Nationals Coordinator for the club swim team, volunteer for the Columbus Free Clinic, I am a member of Gamma Phi Beta Sorority, and I am a Buckeyethon Team Captain. I also have spent the last two years doing cancer research with the Hays Lab through The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute. My research has been one of my most important endeavors during my college career, and I am so lucky to be learning at one of the best cancer hospitals in the country. Being a part of the lab has shown me the importance of cancer research and more importantly, funding for this research. I witnessed firsthand how impactful the research done at The James is and how important research is in getting us a step closer to a cancer-free world. My mom is a breast cancer survivor and her experience is what has inspired me to want to begin research and someday become an oncologist and continue to work for a cure. I have decided to use this platform to fundraise for The James Fund for Life. The work and research done at The James has done incredible things to help in the fight against cancer. With our support, The James can continue to conduct lifesaving research, treat patients, and support survivors. Every day we are one step closer to a cancer-free world.
