Thank you for visiting my Buckeye Funder page! My name is Jessica Schwartz and I am a fourth-year student majoring in International Relations and Diplomacy and minoring in Cultural Anthropology. A few of my most meaningful campus involvements at Ohio State have been participating in the Black Jewish Dialogue at Hillel, being a member of the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority, being a member of Humanities Scholars and creating along with leading the Tree of Life #StrongerThanHate Project. I created and completed the Tree of Life #StrongerThanHate exhibit after the Tree of Life tragedy in my Pittsburgh community. I worked with fifteen multicultural student organizations to open dialogue on the challenges, hardships and biases our respective communities face, and how to move forward together as allies. We also celebrated our unique achievements, joys and educated one another on our celebrations. The project culminated in each group designing their own unique “tree of life painting", a physical manifestation of our future friendship and allyship.

In the future, I hope to use my degree, experience and passions for art and social justice as a tool to foster dialogue and compassion and to bring communities together. I hope to also complete a similar grassroots community building mural project on Ohio State’s campus later this year! Off of that, I have decided to use my platform to support the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Initiatives. The fund I have selected helps to create programs and initiatives at the Wexner Center for the Arts to explore intersectional issues of identity, race, religion and justice while prioritizing diversity and inclusion. This fund also addresses the important anti-racism education while addressing systemic barriers within all spheres of life. Please join me in supporting social justice initiatives through art and be on the lookout for new projects!
