My name is Peighton Taylor and I’m a 4th-year International Studies and African-American and African Studies double major, with a minor in Quantitative Economics. I’m from Cleveland, Ohio and I love everything about Ohio State. From the traditions, to the culture, to the obsession with hating Xichigan, I’m incredibly grateful to have spent my college years at such a wonderful university. Still, none of the wonderful experiences I’ve had at this university would’ve happened without the Morrill Scholarship Program.
The Morrill Scholarship Program (MSP) is Ohio State's premier diversity/merit scholarship program, rewarding academically talented students who are actively engaged in diversity-based leadership, service, and social justice activities. In addition to alleviating what would’ve been a tremendous financial stress on my parents, MSP introduced me to some of my closest friends and cultivated my growth as a person and a student. Through the many highs and lows, MSP has been there for me every step of the way. MSP taught me that you are nothing without the community around you. This sentiment is best exemplified during the Morrill Scholar Service-Learning Spring Break trip during March of 2020. What was first an incredible opportunity to learn about homelessness in Chicago, ultimately became the family I needed to get through an undeniably tough year.
The Morrill Scholarship Program has brought out the best in everyone who is fortunate enough to be a part of it. I could not imagine my four years at The Ohio State University without the Morrill Scholarship Program. I kindly ask that you consider giving to the incredible program that has given so much to me and many others.
Thank You and Go Bucks!
