Hi, my name is Matt Young, I’m from Chagrin Falls, Ohio, and I am currently a senior studying Finance and Economics. On campus, I have been a part of a variety of programs & organizations including the Fisher Futures Investment Banking Program, Buckeye Capital Investors (BCI), Buckeye Undergraduate Consulting Club (BUCC), intramural cornhole lol, and I teach the Investment Banking Program (IBP) to freshmen and sophomores looking to learn more about the field. But the one I’m most proud of is the Integrated Business and Engineering Honors Program (IBE), through which I will receive an Engineering Sciences minor and the IBE Honors Distinction on my diploma next year.
In short, the IBE Program is a four-year honors program with 36 students selected per year, emphasizing interdisciplinary communication, critical thinking, problem solving, product development, corporate strategy, and teamwork through specialized business, engineering, and MBA courses. Academically, I truly believe IBE is one of the top programs Ohio State, and this country for that matter, has to offer; but it is also so much more. Taking 36 highly talented, competitive, yet supportive students per year helps to create lasting friendships, challenge each other to be better every day, and turn a big school into a smaller community. All of this combined allows us to thrive academically, socially, and professionally, as evidenced by the things our students do in college, and our alumni do once they graduate.
As soon as I walked on to campus freshman year, and met the incredibly helpful professors and upperclassmen, I knew I had to give back and join the IBE Student Leadership Board (SLB). I enjoyed the experience so much, my junior year I ran and was chosen to be the SLB President. Whether it was expanding our Freshman Development Program, or forging partnerships with companies like Deloitte, I definitely felt I made a positive impact, even through a tough COVID-19-riddled year. To continue supporting the program that supported so many, the funds collected from your donations will help students continue reaching post-college paths at places like Microsoft, Google, Morgan Stanley, Harvard Law School, Stanford, and KeyBank (that’s me).
So please join me in supporting the best and brightest Ohio State has to offer, all of whom will go on to do great things and further cement the Buckeye community around the world.
Go Bucks,
Matt
