Help us beat Michigan and ensure that our tradition of student journalism, one that consistently puts The Lantern among the best student news organizations in the country, continues for years and decades to come.
We are proud to join forces with the Michigan Daily, the student newspaper for that school up north, in our own rivalry to raise funds for our news operations. With The Daily newsroom, we work to report on The Game in a manner that’s unprecedented in our 139-year history.
The Lantern’s rich tradition of tirelessly serving as the student voice for Ohio State students, faculty, staff and alumni remains unchanged since our first newspaper was printed in 1881. Though the technologies and techniques available to our students evolve with the times, especially in this multimedia and digital-minded age, the laboratory that is The Lantern newsroom continues as a collaborative, investigative and creative space for student reporters.
Today’s student journalists experience the same challenges and triumphs of storytelling as their predecessors. The Lantern needs your help to face a new and growing challenge.
The Lantern is entirely supported by the money it makes from its advertising. Just like many professional newspapers, our student newspaper’s financial future is threatened by decreasing print advertising revenues.
That is why we are building an endowment, a fund that will provide a reliable source of income year after year. Your donation will help build this endowment, which will help us pay for the following expenses:
In the spirit of that rivalry, we also don’t want to lose to our journalistic colleagues in this fundraising challenge.
Thanks for your support!

Ohio State beat Michigan 50-14 in 1968, when Woody Hayes elected to go for two following his team's last touchdown — because he couldn't go for three.
