The Wayne County 4-H Livestock judging team placed fourth at the 2021 Ohio State Fair judging contest, earning a trip to compete in the Western National Roundup at the Denver Stock Show in January 2022. The team of four made up of Makenna Connelly, Morgan Johnson, Mason Johnson and Kendra Marty will be representing the state of Ohio at the contest.
Livestock judging is the careful analysis, selection, placement and justification of classes of animals including various species: beef cattle, sheep, swine and goats. 4-H members who participate in the judging team learn what makes industry-ideal livestock. They also learn critical thinking and decision-making tools, develop confidence, gain public speaking skills and create friendships with their teammates.
Wayne County 4-H is asking for your support of the livestock judging team, as without it, the team members and coaches are responsible for their own airfare, transportation, lodging, meals and registration fees.
Your gift will aid in providing once in a lifetime experiences for these hard working youth.
The team is also very appreciative of the community members who have opened up their farms or donated their time for practices, contests and more. Any funds raised above the goal will be placed into the Wayne County 4-H Livestock Judging Team's account for any future events or needs. Thank you for your consideration.
