Final Hours of the Campaign!

February 28, 2022

Alumni & Friends:

Here we are on the final day of our 7th Annual WAIP Crowdfunding Campaign! We have just a few hours left to give and continue the momentum of this year’s incredible campaign!

We’ve already done amazing things this year, exceeding our original goal of $25,000. Since I announced last week that Richard and Willa Sisson have generously decided to do another $2,500 match in an effort to get us to $30,000,  we are now less than $1,500 way from unlocking that match- can you give during the final hours of the campaign to help get us across the finish line?

Thank you for an incredible year. It has been a challenging 2 years, canceling the summer 2020, moving the program fully virtual for a year and returning to in-person this year, but one common theme always stands: our alumni and friends are incredible and always show up for the John Glenn Fellows of WAIP. Thank you.

Warmly,

Katy

Thank You

February 24, 2022

Alumni & Friends-

We did it!!! I am so incredibly excited to share that we met our goal of $25,000- thank you!

Richard and Willa Sisson have generously decided to offer another $2,500 match in an effort to get us to $30,000 in the last few days of the campaign. The WAIP community is incredible.

One of our most important priorities is to make WAIP more accessible and inclusive. These scholarships play an incredibly important role in achieving that goal. Most importantly, they allow Buckeyes to get to DC that may not otherwise have the chance.

Will you help us exceed our goal and make the program accessible to even more students next year?

To our supporters, cheerleaders and friends- from the bottom of my heart, thank you.

Warmly,

Katy

Honor Senator Glenn's Legacy

February 20, 2022

Alumni & Friends,

Today, February 20th, is the 60th anniversary of John Glenn’s flight of Friendship 7. 60 years ago, Senator Glenn made history. Can you imagine what he and Annie must have been feeling as he boarded Friendship 7, launched and orbited the Earth? How lucky we are to have his name and legacy at the core of all we do, which is launching the careers of the next generation of public servants. We cannot do this important work without the support of scholarships, like those raised by the WAIP crowdfunding campaign

On this special day, I write with another exciting update! Richard and Willa Sisson have generously pledged a $2,500 gift in honor of Dr. Herb Asher to serve as a match challenge which will certainly help us reach this year’s crowdfunding goal of $25,000!  As the second longest serving provost in the history of The Ohio State University and interim president of the university from 1997-1998, Dick Sisson worked closely with Senator Glenn in the initial years when he donated his papers to Ohio State leading to the 2003 launch of the John Glenn Institute for Public Service and Public Policy, the precursor to the Glenn College.

“We’re delighted to support this important campaign for the Washington Academic Internship Program, a program that was so important to Senator Glenn and we salute the Senator’s legacy and Glenn family on this important milestone anniversary of his historic Friendship 7 orbit.” - Richard Sisson

Will you help us honor Senator Glenn’s legacy by making a gift today and sharing this campaign with your personal network? If you already made your gift, thank you! We appreciate your support so much.

Our 7th annual campaign has been incredible, and we cannot wait to share more about the students whose lives will be changed by your generous gifts.

Warmly,

Katy

We Hit the $5k Match!

February 18, 2022

Alumni & Friends,

We did it! Because of your generous gifts, we unlocked the $5,000 match from alumna, Sheila Ronis! Thanks to the OSUDC Alumni Club and many alumni and friends, we are well on our way to reaching our goal of $25,000.

Thank you for your continued support. If you haven’t had the opportunity to give to this year’s WAIP campaign, please make your gift today. We are so close!

I remain inspired, grateful and humbled by this community. Thank you!

Warmly,

Katy

First Match Challenge!

February 03, 2022

Alumni & Friends,

WOW! I am thrilled to see the momentum early in the campaign! We’ve already raised $1,630!

I am excited to announce this year’s first match challenge!

Marathon Petroleum, which has hosted our students in their federal relations office in Washington for years, will match the next $2,500 we raise! That means once we hit $4,130, Marathon will donate an additional $2,500!

Will you help us get to this important milestone?

Once again, I thank you for your support of this campaign. It’s in its 7th year and has made a huge difference in the lives of 56 students- let’s get more John Glenn Fellows to Washington this year without the burden of housing.

If you have already made a gift to this year’s campaign, thank you. We appreciate your support so much!

Warmly,

Katy
