Our Crowdfunding Groups
The Hills at the Lakes Eddie Kline Invitational began in 2010. I, Eddie Kline, am the Head Golf Professional at The Lakes Golf and C.C., and my family is active Worthington Hills community members. The event started with 100 golfers playing in foursomes and has been a thriving, annual outing. We are so appreciative of the support from our Worthington Hills community. Thank you to everyone who has donated auction items, purchased sponsorship signs and sponsored the event meals over the years. Throughout the years our auction featured celebrity athletes: Clark Kellogg, Anthony Schlegel, Archie Griffin, Scoonie Penn and Jake Ballard. We dedicate one par 3 hole to a "hit the green" contest where a generous participant matches the funds collected. A special thanks goes out to my fellow golf professionals and sales representatives for all of their donations to this wonderful cause.
My wife, Katie, was diagnosed with stage three ovarian cancer in 2011 and the support of the event grew even stronger. We joined forces with Give 18 for Cancer Research, a 501(c)(3) organization. It was a match made in heaven. They secured a match for every dollar we raised through the Invitational and with those funds raised we supported various cancer research projects annually at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center-Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC-James). From 2012-2022 including the match, we have raised a total of $686,000! The experience with Give 18 inspired Katie and I to take on our own new challenge. We created an endowed fund at OSUCCC-James that will support ovarian cancer research - The Kline Family Fund for Ovarian Cancer Research!
