We’re looking forward to honoring our dad in a way that marries three of his favorite things: golf, donuts and The Ohio
State University. It was after a day on the golf course in May of 2018 that George suffered the seizure that led to his diagnosis of Glioblastoma, the most common brain malignancy and one that is almost always fatal; only 25% of patients survive more than a year. George received top-notch care and treatment at the Neuro-oncology department at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC – James). Always one to look on the bright side, he felt very fortunate to be within a stone’s throw of the hospital where a multidisciplinary team of researchers are dedicated to developing and conducting leading-edge research that advances innovative breakthroughs and treatments for patients with brain tumors.
These specialists are leading research in high-tech, state-of-the-art laboratories not available anywhere else in central Ohio (and one of only a handful in the country), transforming the way brain tumors are detected, treated and managed. The mission: to translate research findings quickly and effectively into treatments that will improve outcomes and quality of life for patients with brain tumors.
One of the most exciting ventures in Neuro-oncology currently is the treatment of brain tumors by using a variety of immune system responses. Immune therapies include development of vaccines 
against tumor cells, using therapies that boost the immune system, modified viruses that can infect tumors and stimulate an immune response against them and modified immune cells (T-cells) that are engineered to fight cancer.
Our mission is to bring hope to the men and women diagnosed with primary brain tumors every day and raise funds to support the innovative research necessary for a cure. Please join us in funding innovative research and programs that will save lives. Your donation will directly fund ground-breaking brain tumor research (including clinical trials), research training and early detection. Please consider making a donation of any amount that is meaningful to you. Each gift will help change lives and bring the OSUCCC – James closer to conquering brain cancer.
