With Dr. Farrar’s impending retirement July 1, we need your support in recognizing his exemplary career and extraordinary contributions to The Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute at The Ohio State University.
Dr. Farrar’s five-decades of unparalleled service as a cancer surgeon and administrative leader helped propel our cancer program to global prominence, maki
ng it a destination for cancer treatment and care. During his tenure, he served as director of the Division of Surgical Oncology, realized his vision for a free-standing, multi-disciplinary breast center – Stefanie Spielman Comprehensive Breast Center – serving as the inaugural director, and most recently, the chief executive officer of The James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute. In addition, he has performed more than 20,000 operations over his storied career treating every type of cancer except brain cancer.
These hallmarks of Dr. Farrar’s career are complemented by his compassionate care and dedication to his patients and their families, his unrivaled skill and technical acumen benefiting our next generation of physicians, his tireless championing of community initiatives, his humble leadership and administrative influence among his fellow physicians, colleagues and care teams and most certainly his laser focus on our goal to create a cancer-free world.
