Support the LGBTQ community at Ohio State by contributing to the National Coming Out Day Advertisement fundraiser for our student scholarship program!
For over 30 years, members and friends of Ohio State’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer community have published an ad in The Lantern for National Coming Out Day (NCOD). Scarlet and Gay began coordinating the NCOD ad fundraiser when we became an alumni society, and we’re celebrating our 21st anniversary this year! The deadline to donate and have your name appear in the NCOD ad is Tuesday, October 4. It will run in the Lantern on October 20. Click here to learn more about the history of the NCOD ad and how it has become a symbol of Ohio State as an inclusive and welcoming home for the LGBTQ community.
Again this year, Scarlet and Gay is participating in the Scholarship Challenge, a grassroots fundraising effort led by Ohio State’s first lady, Veronica Meinhard. We are excited to share that all gifts made to our scholarship fund through the NCOD ad will be matched dollar for dollar up to $32,500 by “champion” donors. Your support will help us raise $65,000 for scholarships!
If you have donated in previous years, thank you! We also ask that you encourage other members of our community to contribute through personal contacts or by sharing this information on social media. If you have any questions about the NCOD ad, please contact Jeff Speicher.
Lastly, we always encourage alumni and current students who are part of the LGBTQ community (including allies) to self-identify through the alumni association to receive communication regarding Scarlet and Gay events and leadership opportunities.
