Greetings Classmates, Group of people standing and sitting smiling at a camera during their alumni reunion

As many of you know, in 2017, several of us from the Moritz College of Law Class of 1982 helped establish the Class of 1982 Memorial Scholarship to recognize our classmates, honor our extraordinary class and “pay forward”. This was especially inspired by the unexpected death of Janet Kottman in 2016, but she is just one of the many special people in our class.

You have heard from us over the past several years as we attempt to reach the minimum funding level of $50,000 to permanently endow a scholarship for a law student with financial need and demonstrated interest in public service. As we age and hear people talk about the circle of life, it is interesting that more and more students consider or come to Moritz with aspirations for legal careers in public service, whether it is fighting human trafficking, helping families who are facing eviction, advocating for children or serving in governmental roles. Sounds like the 70’s – lots of interest in public service! This scholarship will support that interest and help prepare law students to lead organizations and serve others in our communities for generations to come.

In order to endow a scholarship, we are launching this Buckeye Funder campaign to raise a minimum of $20,000 by June 30, 2023. If you contribute before the deadline, YOUR GIFT WILL BE MATCHED DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR THANKS TO SEVERAL CLASSMATES WHO HAVE GENEROUSLY CREATED A MATCHING POOL OF FUNDS. So, every dollar you contribute will actually result in two dollars going to the scholarship – up to an additional $20,000!

This is our final opportunity to express our appreciation for our own legal education, recognize our deceased classmates who are listed below, honor our class and collectively support future students through the scholarship fund.Group of people sitting at a table during a wedding reception

We hope you will join us in a renewed effort to make a lasting impact through this scholarship. Please help us honor our class, serve our alma mater and take advantage of the match from several of our classmates!

Thank you for considering this opportunity. If you have any questions, please reach out to us via email at OSULaw1982@gmail.com or phone (our numbers are listed below).
