I had heard about Fisher Futures from a family friend when I was still in high school, and it was one of the biggest reasons I came to Columbus for school. Every Monday I walk into a class full of 30 of the most motivated students I've ever met, and the energy is contagious. I come home and immediately want to get to work. I haven't had to spend a dime of my own money -- thanks to all the donations -- and Futures has easily been the most impactful experience of my college career. The Futures alumni base is really remarkable, and I have all of them to thank for helping me try to get my foot in the door in the investment banking industry.
The Fisher Futures travel grant allowed me to spend 2 nights in New York City. During this time, I was able to conduct in-person coffee chats, see the city, and gain a better understanding of the environment I will be working in. Being able to experience a trip to NYC funded by the Futures travel grant allowed me to strengthen long-lasting relationships with bankers who I had only talked to over the phone. I would not have been able to visit the city without the travel grant, so I am extremely appreciative for the opportunity to have been given access to a travel experience while in the Fisher Futures program. It was an amazing trip that was critical in securing interviews and gaining professional experience.
The Fisher Futures travel grant was an amazing opportunity. After COVID, I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to network with any current bankers in NY or Chicago. However, Fisher was able to provide financial support for my first ever trip to NYC. This allowed me to have “real” coffee chats with bankers I already established relationships with, instead of phone calls. These face-to-face connections are unparalleled. Without the grant’s help, I never would have been able to experience the big apple and get extraordinary advice from investment bankers.
There are currently 30 students in the Fisher Futures program for 2023. The first Fisher Futures class had two students and the program has continued to grow each year due to more and more talented and driven students.
Sponsor both trips to New York and Chicago for one student
2023 was the first time the Fisher Futures program covered the cost of the NYC and Chicago trips and the first time since 2019 the program took professional trips.
