Ann Neikirk Schlieser Sydnor, a life in review.

Ann Neikirk Schlieser Sydnor, a resident of Columbus for over 50 years, passed away on June 16th, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents Mary Francis McClanahan and Henry Walker Schlieser and brother Henry Walker Schlieser Jr.

Ann was born September 23, 1942 in Richmond, VA. She attended the Southern Seminary and later the University of Richmond. She married her husband of 39 years, Davis Sydnor on June 13th, 1962. After a brief stay in Richmond, they moved to Washington state where Davis served in the Army from 1963 to 1965. They returned to Richmond for 4 years and then moved to Columbus, Ohio in 1972 where Davis became a professor of Urban Forestry at The Ohio State University.

Ann and Davis were blessed with 3 sons and 4 grandchildren who survive her: son – Thomas Davis Sydnor II (Maureen McLaughlin), granddaughter Lindsey Sydnor, grandson Thomas Davis Sydnor; son – Walker Neikirk Sydnor (Michelle Taff), grandsons Henry Alexander Sydnor and Andrew Edwards Sydnor; son – Harrison Radcliffe Sydnor.

Ann was very involved and supportive of The Ohio State University, being a past president of the Ohio State Women’s Club from 1972 until her passing. She was a member of Agriculture Circle as well as a fundraiser for WOSU. She volunteered for Buckeye Bargains and hosted multiple gatherings for Ohio State faculty members and their spouses.

Ann earned her realtor license in 2008 and worked for Keller Williams Capital Partners. In her spare time, Ann was a talented seamstress and quilter, loved traveling, rescued many dogs and cats and volunteered at Beagles R Us, beagle rescue.

Ann was a beloved soul who did not hesitate to make her views known. You could always count on Ann to tell it like it was, followed by a hearty laugh.
