Cardiology issues related to genetic mutations, Emery-Dreifuss Muscular Dystrophy and LMNA

Hi Everyone,

We would like you to meet Ryan (age 21).

Ryan was diagnosed with Emery-Dreifuss Muscular Dystrophy (EDMD) Individual sitting down smiling for a photo at a wedding receptionwhen he was eight years old. EDMD is a genetic, degenerative disease that causes progressive joint and muscle problems, along with lifelong heart issues. At the age of thirteen, Ryan developed the first sign of heart issues and would go on to have two surgeries within five years to implant monitoring devices. His heart will need to be monitored closely throughout his life.

We are lucky to have The Ohio State University's Wexner Medical Center in our backyard. Because of their research mission, Ryan was invited to be part of a study at the Dorothy M. Davis Heart and Lung Research Institute studying cardiology issues related to genetic mutations. This research team is truly amazing and we are proud to be part of their work. Gifts made to this fund will go directly to the work helping Ryan and others like him with Emery-Dreifuss Muscular Dystrophy and related genetic mutations which are related to cardiology.

If you would like to support this research that can help people like Ryan and others with cardiology issues, please make your gift today. We have been able to get to know some of these incredible doctors and researchers, and we know your gift is in good hands.

Thank you for your thoughtfulness and generosity!
