They gave Emily a 5% chance to make it to 5 years, so come give her a high 5!
On March 21, 2019, I was sent into the emergency room for a CAT scan when they found a mass in my head. I was brought to The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC – James) at The Ohio State University and had surgery on March 27. They found a 4-5 inch tumor over my frontal lobe and speech section. On April 7, I was diagnosed with a Glioblastoma and given a 5% chance to make it to 5 years. My kids were 8, 8, 6 and 3 so I thought "No, thank you!". I want to see my kids grow up, go to school and give me grand babies! After 6 weeks of chemo and radiation, another 6 months of chemo as I also did the Optune Device, many, MANY MRI's, 2 biopsies, lots of colonoscopies, a hysterectomy and visits from many other doctors, I am finally at my 5 years! :-)
It has been a very challenging 5 years with lots of ups and downs, but I have never felt so close to my family and my Savior, Jesus Christ. A huge "Thank You" to all of you who have prayed and watched over us. Much gratitude to The James and all the wonderful doctors and nurses for their education to keep me moving. Here's to another 5 more. I don't want flowers or cards, just a cure!
