About Peter
Peter Megert, a prolific designer and Ohio State Design faculty member, was instrumental in the movement to introduce critical design thinking and international design style to U.S. design education. As a teacher, Peter influenced hundreds of students who went on to successful careers in design. As a design professional, he created amazing visual solutions for his clients that still resonate today. As a person, he lived life fully with joie de vivre, wit and humor supported by his wife and fellow artist Ursula Megert.
The Swiss-born Megert first studied design at the Kunstgewerbeschule and at various programs in France. He joined the young Ohio State Division of Design in 1970 after practicing professionally in Europe and at the Westinghouse Corporate Design Center in Pittsburgh. He rose to the rank of professor before retiring in 1985. Beyond his retirement, he remained active, maintaining his design practice, Visual Syntax and teaching in an adjunct capacity for several more years.
