2024 Life's Short, Eat Dessert First

Thanks for visiting! Although our giving page is no longer active, you can still donate. If you would like to provide any additional support, please make a gift here.

Life is short and it's time to celebrate! It's been 17 years since my breast cancer diagnosis. Great advances are made every day in breast cancer treatment, yielding treatments today that didn't exist 17 years ago. That is why I am more committed than ever to raise funds to fight this disease and use my own breast cancer experience to advocate and spread awareness to others.

GIVE: Be a part of this year’s event by making a gift on this secure webpage.  Every gift, big or small, makes a difference and goes directly to the OSUCCC – James and supports my Life's Short, Eat Dessert First event! Join me for your mom, your sister, your daughter, your friend, your neighbor and YOU and help me raise money for critical research.

BENEFICIARY: The beneficiary of my event is the Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research. Why? Because the Stefanie Spielman Fund is devoted to advancing research in breast cancer and 100% of gifts tied to my event go directlyDr. Skoracki and Paula Brose holding a large check of $33,800 for The James to research at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC – James). Here's a photo of me presenting last year's "big check" to Dr. Roman Skoracki, Medical Director of the Stefanie Spielman Comprehensive Breast Center. He was the featured speaker at my event last year.

I'm proud to share last year’s event raised an incredible $33,800! The highest yet. This brings the 16-year total to $192,000!

THANK YOU to all who joined me on Sunday, October 20 for the in-person Life's Short, Eat Dessert First event! It was a perfect day -- delicious desserts, incredible speakers, a great time with family and lots of friends, fun raffles, and perfect weather! In addition to my featured speaker, we were blessed to also hear from Dr. Roman Skoracki, Steve Kalister and Maddie Spielman.

FEATURED SPEAKER: my featured speaker this year was Dr. Margaret Gatti-Mays, Section Chief of Breast Medical Oncology at The James where she is passionate about finding new ways to expand the use of immunotherapy in breast cancer patients. Dr. Gatti-Mays specializes in breast cancer, immunotherapy, side effects from immunotherapy and rare subtypes of breast cancer.

Please join me in celebrating 17 years of Life's Short, Eat Dessert First! Together we will help create a cancer-free world! As always, I encourage you to share with others. The more who know, the more dollars raised!
