Five years ago our feisty, spicy, sassy and fierce little girl came into this world 3 months early, at 26 weeks weighing 1 lb 15 oz and 14 inches long.
Taylor spent 100 days in the NICU at Ohio State. The first 6 months of her life she was on oxygen, and we had a lot to learn and navigate after coming home with all those cords. BUT on August 20th she turned 5 and is healthy and happy; you’d never know she had a rough start to life.
We celebrate our little miracle baby girl and reflect on how blessed we are to be her parents and how blessed we are that we had this outcome on that scary day 5 years ago. We know things could’ve been a lot different, and we thank God everyday for the miracle little Wonder Woman we have today!
In celebration of Taylor’s 5th birthday, we are raising funds to support the AMAZING NICU nurses at Ohio State! Rick and I credit these amazing individuals for helping get us through those 100 days.
We had amazing support from our family and friends, but those nurses hold a special place in our hearts and are a part of our family. They eased our fears, walked us through all the things happening and helped raise our baby girl those first 100 days. We visited every day (sometimes twice a day) staying with her for hours. But every time we left Taylor, we knew she was in great hands and her nurses were going to love on her. When we finally got to bring Taylor home, there was a void in our lives that we didn’t get to see our nurses every day, but we kept in touch and almost 3 years later we were back with RJ. Returning to the NICU was comforting, especially when we saw so many familiar faces.
We selected this fund, the Constance Woodward Scholarship Fund in Pediatric Nursing, at the College of Nursing because it provides scholarship support for graduate nursing students who focus on high-risk neonates. We LOVE our NICU nurses and could never pay them back for the amazing love and care they gave Taylor and the support they gave to Rick and I.
Make your gift today and join us in paying forward for future NICU nurses that will care for babies like Taylor (and RJ).
