Support an Experiential Learning Opportunity for Law & Society Scholars

In this historically critical time in America, discourse and dialogue related to issues about immigration and freedom are prevalent. There is perhaps no greater opportunity than now to explore some of the origins of immigration in America and examine how freedom has been challenged for citizens and non-citizens in this country.

The Law & Society Scholars Program seeks to host twenty-four (24) of its distinguished Second-Year Undergraduate Scholars students on an immersive experiential learning trip to New Jersey and New York exploring immigration and freedom in America.

This brief but intentional experience, led by Program Manager Devika L. Carr, is a journey that shall:

  1. Immerse Scholars in historic sites that evoke emotion, encourage deeper awareness, and prompt understanding about the legal and societal issues related to immigration and freedom in America, and
  2. Guide Scholars through reflective dinner conversations that elevate their ability to engage in meaningful dialogue and discourse with one another, while making determinations about how to collectively elevate communities and contribute to society

Upon return, participating Scholars shall be afforded an opportunity to present transformative reflections with the full Law & Society Scholars Community of more than 150 students.

Over the 3 day/2 night journey, Scholars will visit sites including Empty Sky Memorial, Statue of Liberty (Pedestal), Ellis Island National Museum of Immigration, One World Observatory, 9/11 Memorial, and Metropolitan Museum of Art

Any financial contribution to the Law & Society Scholars Program's Gift Fund provides opportunity for deserving Scholars to engage in experiential learning without added expense or financial strain.

We invite you to invest in this treasured experience which is certain to elevate the Buckeye experience of our Law & Society Scholars and we remain appreciative of your consideration.
