Support Romanian Studies Today!

The Ohio State University is one of the only places in North America with a Romanian language program. The program is celebrating 50 years of scholarship, research and community engagement.

WE NEED YOUR HELP. Support Today!

Your generous gift will:

  • Support education. Ensure students receive a comprehensive and immersive education.
  • Host scholars. Enrich the academic environment for students, facilitating knowledge and cultural exchanges.
  • Fund student opportunities abroad. Allow students to pursue research and further language study in Romania.

Master teacher Dr. Rodica C. Botoman founded Romanian Studies at The Ohio State University. She went on to write Discover Romanian, the textbook still used worldwide today. In her 27 years at Ohio State, Dr. Botoman taught thousands of students and mentored current Romanian faculty. The Rodica C. Botoman fund is established in celebration of her ongoing dedication to Romanian Studies at Ohio State. She still mentors and supports the OSU Romanian program today.

"If you teach the language within its cultural frame of reference, it makes the learning of a foreign language a living experience. Grammar alone will not do it." -Dr. Rodica C. Botoman

We’re celebrating Martisor and marking 50 years of the Romanian Studies Program at The Ohio State University with a special reception. - Event information here.
