Hi! I am Jasmine McKinley, a 4th year civil engineering student at The Ohio State University. My connection to the Multiple Sclerosis community comes from watching how MS affected my grandpa and the people who loved him. Multiple Sclerosis is a chronic neurological disease where the immune system attacks the protective covering of nerves, disrupting communication between the brain and body. I saw the way the MS changed my grandpa's life and the lives of those who cared for him. Witnessing the adjustments, the worry, and the quiet emotional weight that families carry when a family member is living with MS made me realize how deeply it impacts not only the person diagnosed, but everyone in their circle. That understanding has stayed with me and shaped the way I think about care, accessibility, and the importance of supporting people whose struggles are not always visible.

This experience is a big part of why I am so passionate about creating access and support for others. As I have grown up, I have learned how powerful it is when people have the right resources around them. My grandpa did not always have that, and I have seen firsthand how much it matters. I am choosing to raise funds for the Multiple Sclerosis Support Fund because MS affects far more than the body. It affects families, routines, independence, and hope. This fund strengthens patient care, facility resources, specialized personnel, education, and research, all of which help people living with MS maintain stability. Supporting this fund means supporting real people, real families, and real futures.
