Life's Short, Eat Dessert First
2026 Life's Short, Eat Dessert First
2026 marks the 19th year for my Life's Short, Eat Dessert fundraiser. However, this year is going to be different.
Unfortunately, my sister’s breast cancer has progressed again. She’s had a rough 2026 and I’ve determined my focus this year needs to be on being with Jackie and helping her and her daughter.
As a result, there will not be an in-person October Life’s Short, Eat Dessert First event this year.
In 2007, I received my first breast cancer diagnosis. Then in late 2024, the unexpected happened when I received a second breast cancer diagnosis. Hosting this event each year has always been my way of giving back. I’m still committed more than ever to raise funds to fight this disease. Even though there is not an in-person event this year, I can raise money online, like I did in 2020 during Covid.
DONATE: You can be a part of this year’s Life’s Short, Eat Dessert First by donating at this secure website.
ONLINE SILENT AUCTION: I will have an online silent auction in late October. Watch for posts and updates on my Facebook and Instagram pages, and/or an email from me for the link to the online Silent Auction page.
BENEFICIARY: The beneficiary of my event is the Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research. Why? Because the Stefanie Spielman Fund is devoted to advancing research in breast cancer and 100% of donations tied to my event go directly to research at Ohio State’s Comprehensive Cancer Center – James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC – James).
I'm proud to share last year’s event donation was an amazing $35,350! This brings the 18-year donation total to more than $266,000!!
As always, I encourage you to share this information with others. The more who know = the more money raised!
While I’m sure the beautiful and delicious dessert buffet will be missed, I hope all of you will participate in the online Silent Auction and/or make a donation to continue my 19-year tradition of raising money for breast cancer research.
