More than 20 years ago, Jodi and I hosted a Halloween party simply for fun. The next year, we turned it into a charity event to support a friend in need. Over time, we named it “Friends helping Friends” because that is exactly what friends do when someone needs help. We began by raising funds to support ALD (Adrenoleukodystrophy), diabetes, and cancer research. Since then, many family members, friends, and colleagues have faced serious illnesses, and sadly, we have lost several far too soon.

With the support of so many generous people, we have raised and donated more than $283,000. Most of us know someone who is fighting a disease or has been directly affected by one. It will take all of us working together to win these battles, and we could not have made this impact without the support of our family, friends, and colleagues.

There are so many worthy causes, and we are grateful for everyone who gives their time, energy, and resources to make a difference. Medical progress is possible because of that generosity. Jodi and I will continue doing our part until cures are found and more people can live healthier, better lives.

This year, we are asking that donations be made to The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC – James) in honor of the Buckeye Cruise for Cancer. Since moving back to Ohio, Jodi and I have had the privilege of meeting and working with many wonderful new friends connected to the Buckeye Cruise for Cancer.
