Honoring D'Layne Graney: Advancing Early Detection for Ovarian Cancer
D'Layne was originally born in Eaton Ohio, graduated from Miami University, and found success in business. She is the kindest and most caring of friends, and most of all, an AMAZING mother and wife. Her legacy will carry on through her children who have so much of her in them, without question raised to be wonderful human beings like their MOM!
If you know D'Layne Graney you know living a life of, "What if" was definitely not her style. She made sure of this by packing everything she could into every minute of every day, with those she cared for. We would all do well to do the same, to live life to the fullest, spend on experiences not material goods, enjoy family trips and adventures, wine and dine with best friends and make every moment matter. That said, during the four year battle with High Grade Serous Ovarian Cancer she often considered one thing; How might things have turned out different if the cancer was detected sooner? After a few months of abdominal discomfort in 2022 she had testing done to see if perhaps it was IBS or other digestive track issues. The core problem was not discovered and a couple short months later she was diagnosed. As is often the case, the disease had spread rapidly. Early detection may not be a cure but it certainly increases life expectancy which in turn offers time to find other treatment solutions and a potential cure. She was a supporter of trials and personally participated, hoping her results would help others. After spending her last four years undergoing constant treatments, her body could not handle anymore. BUT what if we knew of her disease sooner or if more data was available to help extend her time?
This fund is specifically focused on the cancer that affected D'Layne. The study is currently working to identify potential candidate proteins within extracellular vesicles that can be used for early detection of ovarian cancer and serve as therapeutic targets for the development of effective treatments. Additionally, they investigate the correlation between extracellular vesicle protein profiles and clinical outcomes to identify potential prognostic markers.
