Cincinnati Buckeyes
Over the past week I've been able to meet with alumni and continue reaching out to alumni! One of the alumni I met with is actually on the board of an alumni association where he did his master degree at! It was fun to speak with him about how many different groups make up the alumni association! We also talked about how awesome it was that you have a connection with someone almost every where you go due to being an alumni of a big university like Ohio State! It was a neat conversation to have with this alumni because he had stated that he had lived in three different cities and had been involved with the Ohio State alumni clubs of almost every city he had lived in! It really proves that no matter where you go, you always have Ohio State alumni around! Next time you see someone with an Ohio State hat on, let out a little O-H! You might be surprised what their connection to Ohio State is! Being involved in the local alumni club is a great way to be involved right here in your city! Check out some of the events they hold at their website by clicking here! And as always, Go Bucks!
Buckeyes Helping Buckeyes
This week I've been busy meeting with alumni and emailing alumni to schedule meetings. With my program winding down, I've taken some time to reflect on the program as a whole. I've met wonderful people who all have one thing in common- they are so willing to help others. There's no doubt that when it comes to being a buckeye, you can't deny the want to help others (especially if their buckeyes as well). Throughout the program I've had so many alumni give me advice on what they think is very important to do and what shaped their life most. All of them connected to helping others. Whether it was studying abroad and helping others globally or simply giving a student their advice on the "must knows" of life or reaching out to their connections to help another buckeye, they have all mentioned helping others to me- something I admire greatly about this wonderful place I call home. If you're still looking to help others, check out the Ohio State Alumni Club of Hamilton County's event on July 29th at the Freestore Foodbank! That's what being a buckeye is all about!
Local Buckeyes
This week I've been busy emailing alumni and meeting with alumni! I love being able to meet with alumni who live in Hamilton County. They share the same passion for the city they live in and Ohio State- just as I do. It's fun to hear all of the stories from alumni who have grown up in Cincinnati and then come back after college. Everyone is doing different things throughout the city but are all connected through one great thing- Ohio State. My favorite part of the meeting is when people tell me that Ohio State feels like home no matter where they go. Or that they are looking for a home away from home with Ohio State. If you're looking to find your home with Ohio State here in Cincinnati, consider joining the Ohio State Hamilton County Alumni Club! The club allows you to connect with other Ohio State alumni through local events here in Cincinnati. If you're interested in more information about the club, check out their website by clicking here. As always, Go Bucks!
Busy Buckeyes
This week I was extremely busy meeting with alumni from Hamilton County! One of my favorite things that all of my meetings had in common this week was that I got to learn about what alumni are doing with their majors and experiences from Ohio State! Going into my junior year, I must say that it's very comforting to know that much of the alumni had no idea what they wanted to do either! It's a fun experience to hear their journeys on how they got into their career field or their job. I'm also impressed at the amount of alumni who love what they do and are leaders in their company. Leadership is one of the many qualities that I feel I'm learning here at Ohio State and it's amazing to see where leadership has taken many of our buckeyes in their careers! The other thing that a lot of the alumni have mentioned is wanting to move out of Ohio and see and work other places. Did you know The Ohio State Alumni Association has a wonderful job search service? Whether you're interested in moving to the state next door or the country across the sea- Ohio State can help! If you're interested in having more information, you can find some on the the Alumni Association website by clicking here. As for traveling goes, I'm headed to Florida for the coming week but as always will be supporting my buckeyes!
Buckeyes Around the Globe
This week I've been very busy with meeting with alumni! One thing that I've found this week with my meetings is how involved the alumni are in their communities and around the globe! This week, I met with someone and discussed travel. I had stated that I was a on track to graduate a semester early and was interested in using that semester to possibly study abroad. It was an incredible conversation as she started giving me advice how where her favorite places were to travel! While she was a student she was able to study abroad in Egypt and currently loves traveling in her free time that she has! She had stated that she just went to Mexico with some of her friends from Ohio State! I thought this sounded like fun! So are you a buckeye who is interested in traveling? Maybe you want to share your love of traveling with other buckeyes? Did you know that Ohio State offers Alumni Tours? It's a great way to see new places with other buckeyes who share the same passion of travel! If your interested in learning more, visit the Alumni Association Tour website by clicking here to check out all the cool places buckeyes are visiting! It's a great way to stay involved and meet other buckeyes!
Buckeye Passions
This week my schedule has been filling up very quickly with alumni who want to learn how to be more involved! I was emailing an alumni this week and he had stated that was trying to look for ways on how to be more involved in giving back to Ohio State as an alumni. It was exciting for me to explain all the ways he could give back and the places he could give back to! Whether you enjoy athletics, are passionate about students getting more scholarships or would like to donate to improvements going on in a specific college- there's something for almost every passion out a buckeye could have that you can give back to! In the coming weeks, I'm excited to discover alumni's passions, hear their stories about what Ohio State has done for them and tell them all the ways that they can give back to what they love most about being a buckeye!
Buckeye Opportunities
This week I have been busy connecting with more and more alumni! This week I was able to meet an alumni and hear her story about her buckeye experience! She explained that she actually transferred to Ohio State for her junior and senior year due to all the amazing job and involvement opportunities that the university has to offer. I connected with this alumni very well since I also transferred to Ohio State for all the amazing opportunities that the university has to offer! As the weeks go on, I'm enjoying listening to alumni's stories and being able to connect with their stories as a current student. I'm looking forward to hearing more about the opportunities that Ohio State has provided to different alumni here in Cincinnati. If you're an alumni looking for more opportunities on how to stay connected to the university, please visit our alumni association page and find your fit by joining one of our many alumni clubs or societies. Sharing Buckeye Pride
This week I have been busy scheduling meetings with alumni in Hamilton County and speaking with them about ways they can stay involved with the university! While I wasn’t able to meet anyone this week due to going on a vacation (I still showed my Buckeye Pride while away), I stayed busy setting up meeting and connecting with alumni through email! I also truly enjoyed doing some research and connecting with the president of the Ohio State University Alumni Club of Greater Cincinnati. There is a service event coming up on July 29th and it’s a great way to show our Buckeye love to others! I look forward to speaking with more alumni in my coming weeks and helping them to stay involved with Ohio State! And as always, go bucks!
Buckeyes in Hamilton County
This week I was able to meet with Ohio State alumni Mr. Dennis Martin. Mr. Martin uses his math and education degrees from Ohio State and is a high school math teacher here in Hamilton County and he was recently awarded educator of the year! Mr. Martin is a proud alumnus who loves to come back to campus for football games and events. He currently shares his love for the Buckeyes with his students through influential Ohio State quotes and buckeye gear hanging around his classroom! It’s so great to see how many buckeyes are active with the university here in Cincinnati by donating and volunteering! In my coming weeks, I can’t wait to meet more alumni who have just as much love for being a Buckeye as Mr. Martin!
