Celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the Honors Cohort

Your support strengthens our impact.

The members of the Honors Cohort funding campaign strive to make the Honors Cohort Program an unparalleled experience for all students, regardless of their financial capabilities. There are four main opportunities in Cohort that provide students this unique education: understanding the global business environment, learning how to excel to the top nationally, a commitment to serving our communities, and experiential learning that is matched by no other university in the country.

Similar to a top MBA education, the Cohort Program is offering undergraduate students a global opportunity once again. This year the 20th Honors Cohort is traveling to and completing business cases for organizations in Brazil. We will be challenged in ways we have never experienced and will learn crucial skills necessary in being global citizens. This is an exciting opportunity to not only experience another country and its culture, but also gain global business experience through partnerships with businesses in the area. In years past other Cohorts have traveled abroad in similar fashions and we look forward to expanding our global mindset!

The Honors Cohort Program provides students an experience of national exposure through unique business trips throughout the Midwest and the West Coast.  The 21st Cohort will be traveling to Chicago and San Francisco to understand key cultural differences in the U.S. and to gain an understanding of how different corporate philosophies lead to success. The 20th Cohort produced a video of last year's trip to Silicon Valley, check it out here.

The Cohort Impact Challenge allows students to work in a tight-knit team throughout the academic year to tackle some of the largest societal issues. Last year, the 20th Cohort kicked off the project with a rousing speech from Ohio State's own Thad Matta and ended with an evening of presentation to our fellow students, parents and members of the Ohio State and Columbus communities. Students were placed into four groups and challenged with identifying a non-profit or need in the community and creating a meaningful, sustainable service project. Highlights from last year’s challenge included a systematic approach to reintegrating ex-prisoners into society, and hosting a Columbus wide day of service with nearly 1,000 volunteers. We look forward to seeing the impact created by the 21st Cohort this year.

By flipping the typical classroom experience on its head, students in Cohort will experience a Crisis Simulation and partake in the 2nd annual Cohort Impact Challenge. The Cohort Crisis Simulation will face students with a rigorous 72-hour experience in which they must act as an executive board of a company trying to remain operable after an organizational catastrophe. Last year, the 20th Cohort addressed a number of challenges facing a fictional clothing company. We learned how to lead in the wake of a catastrophe as we prepared strategies to engage with key constituents, making key decisions on handling the crisis in real-time.

The Honors Cohort Program is geared up and ready to go, but needs your help to sustain its life changing impact! Please consider making a gift today in support of our program. This campaign will run for the length of the school year, we look forward to updating you on our projects and how your support creates an impact in Cohort.
