We are happy to share that the second installation of bricks and pavers at Mirror Lake is complete, however the brick locator site will not be updated with your brick's location until July. Therefore, you will not find your brick or paver's location in the locator map at this time.
This installation includes all bricks and pavers purchased from January 1, 2018 through January 7, 2019.
Thank you to all who attended the re-opening event of Mirror Lake and Pomerene Hall on October 5. We enjoyed kicking off Homecoming weekend festivities with you and hope you enjoy seeing some photos from the event.
A brick locator website has been created to help you find your purchased brick or paver! The site can be found by clicking here. Enter your name or the inscription into the search box, click “search” and then click on the eye icon to identify the section location for your brick or paver.
Please note, currently the brick locator site shows the location of all bricks and pavers purchased in 2017. If you purchased a brick or paver in 2018, your brick will be visible on this site once it is installed in 2019.
Construction is still ongoing, and fences will remain around the lake until early fall, but as you can see from these images, progress is being made and the first installation of bricks (those purchased by December 31, 2017) are in place. A grand re-opening event of Mirror Lake and Pomerene Hall will be held the morning of Friday, October 5, 2018. Invitations with further details will be sent via email in August. Please mark your calendars to join us for this exciting event to kick-off Homecoming weekend.
Are you unable to attend the re-opening event and wonder how you will find your brick or paver at Mirror Lake when you visit campus? Stay tuned for exciting details regarding a virtual interactive brick locator map that will be available to you soon!

We are happy to provide an update on the progress of Mirror Lake! If you purchased a brick that was part of the first installation (prior to December 31, 2017), the bricks are in the process of being laid and should be set in June. We had a few delays in their installation due to weather however, this part of the project is well underway.
As of today, fencing still surrounds Mirror Lake as there are many parts to this project in addition to the brick pathways. We anticipate the project completion and fencing being removed in mid-August. A grand opening event is also being planned for Homecoming week – please continue watching for additional details.
Please note: This update is for individuals who purchased a brick on or before December 31, 2017.
Thank you once again for purchasing a brick or paver. Please keep an eye out for our inscription verification email tomorrow, Friday, January 12. The email will come from Sarah Bohman at buckeyefunder@osu.edu. Please make sure to verify whether your inscription is correct or whether you would like to make changes. You will have until Thursday, January 18 to complete the form. If you have any questions please respond to the email, we will be monitoring it twice a day.
We anticipate that the bricks will be installed this spring and will communicate dates and details as we learn more.
We have opened up our second installation and any brick/paver purchased after 12/31/2017 will qualify for our second installation, which we anticipate will happen spring 2019.

We’ve enjoyed reading your Mirror Lake memories:
During my years as a student at OSU I don't have any specific memories of Mirror Lake other than enjoying many walks by it. However my wife and I have wonderful memories of it during a not so wonderful time in our lives. In 2011 my wife Sandy was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Over the next couple of years that diagnosis resulted in several long stays at the James Cancer Hospital. On several occasions, Sandy was permitted short reprieves that allowed us to leave the hospital for short periods of time. With me pushing her in a wheelchair, Sandy and I always enjoyed going and sitting by Mirror Lake, since it was so close to the James. The memories of those short visits to Mirror Lake will always be special to both of us as they provided Sandy and I much needed changes of scenery from the hospital. Today, the mention of Mirror Lake takes us back to those visits that allowed Sandy and I short escapes from our reality of those times. One final note, today, October 24, 2017, happens to be the fifth year anniversary in which Sandy received a bone marrow transplant at the James. We are grateful to say that she remains leukemia free.
Years after my father attended and years before I would attend we would always spend a moment at Mirror Lake whenever we were on campus. My father's friends could not believe he would waste a Buckeye football ticket on a child and a girl child at that. Amidst all of the chaos and calamity that would be occurring on game day, we would find time to go sit quietly side by side watching the fountain and the ducks. No words were spoken, as there was no need, but we both would stand signaling it was time to leave. These are the moments I miss most now that he is gone. One would think that life's celebrations; birthdays, my graduation, my wedding day but no. I miss sitting with him saying nothing in the reflection of Mirror Lake.
A friend and I rode a tandem bicycle into the lake accidentally...it was 1984. There's a hill there somewhere as I recall. I wasn't on the steering end of the tandem and it was very late. Things may have been simpler then...there was no investigation and we didn't need an intervention to be sure we didn't repeat the error. The lake trapped stars among twiggy leaves that fled our splashdown. But time makes fools of us all...who knows what really was.
My husband and I enjoyed our first kiss, sitting on the rock wall along the north side of Mirror Lake. Our sons, who also attended OSU, have walked by that spot many times and also know it well. Such a beautiful place!
I got engaged at Mirror Lake, September 1983!!! We met in sociology class so it was fitting that we got engaged on campus. Thirty-three years later we're still going strong and two of our three children are alumni. I love The Ohio State University. "How firm thy friendship....."
