After months of recruitment and hours of interviewing, our next generation of Student-Alumni Council is finally here! To follow SAC tradition, each member was scouted out and surprised with a balloon and a buckeye, signifying their acceptance into our organization. This week, we welcomed 38 new members to their first general body meeting and invited them to mix and mingle with all the seasoned members. So exciting to introduce some fresh faces into this family and see what they will bring to the future of SAC!

This week, Student-Alumni Council kicks off the first Dinner for 12 Buckeyes of the year at The Longaberger Alumni House! This program embodies SAC’s mission by inviting six alumni and six students at each table to share a meal together. It is a special opportunity for buckeyes past and present to engage and connect over common interests and career fields!

Last night, alumni from 11 different clubs and societies joined aspiring students to discuss and reminisce about each other’s experiences in their respective professional and collegiate realms. One Medical Alumni Society member shared, “This is the most connected I’ve felt to my college since I graduated. The conversations with students were so engaging and thought provoking.” We can’t wait to yield more of these quality conversations in our upcoming dinners!

This past week was wrapped up with our annual Homecoming Pep Rally on October 4th. Buckeyes past, present, and future gathered and reunited from all over for one of SAC’s biggest traditions of the year! With speakers like President Drake and Coach Ryan Day, as well as performances by Genesis Dance Team, Majors and Minors Acapella, and Brutus, our audience got pumped for the Michigan State game the following day. Members of Student-Alumni Council assisted with the Rally by building our Homecoming float, selling t-shirts, distributing free giveaway items, and running a photo booth! With funding from OSUAA and over six months of hard work and preparation, the 2019 Homecoming Pep Rally turned out to be a success with roughly 2500 people in attendance for our sesquicentennial!
