Women's History Month

Women Student Initiatives (WSI) within the Student Life Multicultural Center is committed to promoting gender equity by raising awareness of women’s issues, developing women’s leadership, and celebrating women who challenge, motivate and inspire. In alignment with these goals, we offer student-focused programming to strengthen individuals and student organizations on Ohio State’s campus. Large events hosted by Women’s Student Initiatives in the past include Brunch with Brenda Drake, featuring The Ohio State University’s First Lady and other on-campus and off-campus women leaders, and Laci Green’s Best Sex Ever presentation, exploring healthy sexual exploration on a college campus.

The Women’s Student Initiatives Leadership Cohort is comprised of undergraduate students who help to coordinate programs throughout the year, including Women’s Center Wednesdays (WCW). Every first and third week of the month, WSI holds Women’s Center Wednesdays programs which aim to be meaningful and impactful for women and allies on campus. The purpose of these programs is to encourage discussion and support for women's rights and freedoms in the fight for equity. To broaden the sphere of influence, WSILC regularly collaborates with First Year Success Series, Buckeye Leadership Fellows and the Multicultural Center’s Programming Staff.

The most anticipated programming by the Women’s Student Initiatives Leadership Cohort is done for the university-wide celebration of Women’s History Month. Key events during Women’s History Month include The Vagina Monologues, Girls Day and Women’s Summit. This year’s theme for Women’s History Month is PowHERful. The programming aims to empower the women on Ohio State’s campus, proving to themselves and the world around them that they have the capacity to be extraordinary.
