Thank you for giving to Women’s Student Initiatives at The Ohio State University through our Buckeyefunder fundraising campaign. It is gratifying to know that you are such a great partner in supporting the development and success of Buckeye Women. Your contribution creates an even stronger foundation of support for our students, and for that, we cannot thank you enough. Your giving will allow us to continue and expand our programs for women on Ohio State’s Campus. This Women’s History Month was a success and we are excited to start the planning for next year! On March 3, buckeye women, allies, staff and supporters gathered for Ohio State's Women’s History Month Kick-off Celebration which was held in the Ohio Union Archie Griffin Ballroom.
We had the pleasure of hearing the phenomenal Tricia Downing, a competitive athlete, tell her motivating and moving story about her tragic accident. As the lights dimmed and we listened to her words, we were taken through different periods of her life from her childhood love for athletics to a life-changing accident to her triumph over that setback. Identifying herself as an athlete at an early age, she used her passion for sports to pull herself through a trying time of her life. She left us all with the lesson that no matter what life may throw at you, you will always be able to reach your finish line.
Next, we moved to a panel of buckeye women student athletes. They told their stories of what it is like to be a woman athlete on Ohio State’s male dominated athletic campus. The women spoke of their challenges and how they use their determination and motivation to conquer them. They aimed to empower not only women athletes, but buckeye women as a whole, to persevere through everything that may cross their paths. The night concluded when Women Student Initiatives awarded Ohio State teams that have earned NCAA National Championships, including the Synchronized Swimming team, Women’s Rowing team and Women Pistol Team members.
Your donations to Women's Student Initiatives will allow us to plan more programs like the kickoff event for our Buckeye Women! So far, we have made it to 47% of our goal with only six days left!

In honor of International Women's Day 2016, we challenge you to do your part in empowering buckeye women!
The Ohio State University Women’s History Month Planning Committee would like to invite you to serve as our guest at the 2016 Women’s History Month Celebrationon Thursday, March 3, 2016 at 7:30pm in the Ohio Union Archie Griffin Grand Ballroom. This year, the campus community has adopted the theme: PowHERful: One Woman Can Change The World. This event will be celebrating PowHERful Women in Sports and feature competitive world-class athlete, author, and speaker, Tricia Downing. This program is sure to be fun and engaging!
