Wow!
$4,134 from 33 donors has been raised to build a new cabin at 4-H Camp Hervida. Even though the funding site has moved into an Evergreen mode, donations can be accepted through the end of August.
Have you ever wondered what is was like in the early years of Hervida? Here is a glimpse of the First 25 Years at 4-H Camp Hervida (1922-1947):
1922 Site Leased for first camp, 125 campers
Campers slept in tents
Swimming in Wolf Creek
1923 First Kitchen
1924 Louvida Lodge for staff
Small Tool House
First Women's Camp, 124 campers
1927 Dining Hall, open-air with metal roof
1937 Dining Hall Remodeled, cement floor & wooden sides with screens
1940 Office/Canteen
Site Bought & Camp Incorporated
Camp might look a little different now than it did in 1922. Even though we don’t sleep in tents anymore, we are working to build a new cabin to replace Cabin #8. Thank you for your dedication to help 4-H Camp Hervida be there for future generations of 4-H members. Please continue to share our Buckeye Funder project with your family and friends to help us reach our fundraising goal.
We greatly appreciate everyone’s support of Hervida 4-H Camp! This campaign has been an opportunity for 4-H members, their families, alumni, and supporters to share their love of camp experiences and invest in the immediate future of Hervida.
4-H Camp Hervida needs your help to fund a cabin replacement project. Cabin #8 was closed in 2019 due to an unstable foundation, sloping floor and mold caused by excessive moisture. The plan is to build a new 20' X 24' cabin on the same location. The new cabin will include a ramp for handicap accessibility.
Due to COVID-19 all 4-H Camps have been cancelled through August 31. Other spring and summer camps traditionally held at Hervida have also been cancelled. The income generated from these camps would have been used to begin the funding process to replace Cabin #8
Facilities at Hervida include 21 sleeping cabins, modern restrooms, dining hall with attached kitchen, crafts hall, nature center, two education buildings, large recreation hall, ball field, swimming pool, amphitheater, archery range, shooting sports range, pavilions and various maintenance building. We hope you can support this cabin replacement project so we are ready for campers again in 2021.
